CURRENT EXHIBITION

El ayer en el ahora / Rifaae Ahmad and Numën / 06.02.-01.03.2025
*OPENING THE 6TH OF FEBRUARY AT 6PM
“El ayer en el ahora”, "Yesterday in the Now" traces a journey through memory and the reconstruction of identity. Through painting, sculpture, and mixed media, the artists tell their stories in a personal way, yet one that is also filled with universal emotions. The simplicity and careful choice of materials and colors used by the artists help to reinforce the purity of their message, inviting calm reflection without distractions, allowing the viewer to immerse themselves in the work and make it their own.
The connection between the past and the present is a key point that not only gives the exhibition its title, "Yesterday in the Now", but also becomes another element of creation. The life journey that shapes our hands then molds the idea of who we are or who we want to be; of what we wish to keep with us and what we want to shed.
With this point of connection, the members of Numën, Gabriel Castaño and María García-Casarrubio, manually weave natural fibers to create three-dimensional works that connect with their heritage through the senses, filling the gaps in their memory. On the other hand, Rifaae Ahmad captures embryonic images in the paintings of his "Birth" series, representing and thus creating his own rebirth as the culmination of his search for identity in a society that demands constant adaptation while increasingly depersonalizing us. In short, whether painting or weaving, these artists choose to define their own present, even though it can never be detached from their past.
