About the workshop
A new sculpture course for adults taught by artist Sari Kiwan is coming to EL PUENTE GALLERY! This quarterly workshop, which will run from April to June 2025, is designed for both beginners and those with prior experience in sculpture.
Dates and Schedule
The course will begin on Tuesday, April 1, and run until Wednesday, June 25, with a total of 24 sessions of two hours each. Classes will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM (except for April 15 and 16 due to Easter), giving you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the art of sculpture in an intensive way.
Course Content
This course is tailored to the needs and levels of each student, ensuring a personalized learning experience. The course will focus on clay modeling, a fundamental technique in sculpture, allowing you to experiment and create unique, detailed pieces. Throughout the sessions, human anatomy will be studied, using references from the body, sculptures, and even live models. You will learn about creating structures that will serve as the foundation for your sculptures, as well as the making of molds suited to each situation and casting in different materials so you can take your works home. In addition to clay, materials such as plaster, alginate, and wax will be explored, giving you a broader understanding of various techniques used in sculpture. Moreover, if any student wishes to learn additional techniques, such as working with silicones or preparing sculptures for bronze or other metal castings, Sari will be happy to include these requests within the course.
Materials
All necessary materials and tools for the course will be provided, except for any specific materials the student may wish to bring if they want to experiment with a technique or material not included in the program.
Language
The course will be conducted entirely in English, so a basic level of English is required to participate. But don’t worry! This is a perfect space not only to learn about sculpture but also to practice the language in a relaxed and creative environment.
